The Climate
Temperate Rain forests have two distinct seasons: the long and wet season and the short dry foggy summers. When the forest is long and wet, it rarely drops below freezing (0 degrees Celsius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit). When the forest is in the short, dry, foggy summer season, it rarely goes up above 27 degrees Celsius or 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperate rain forests are usually found in the coastal regions of the Earth. Even in the summer, when its dry, the weather is cool and so the fog supplies enough moisture to sustain the rain forest. The fog yields 18-30 centimeters or 7-12 inches of precipitation each summer. The average temperature in the rain forest is between 4-12 degrees Celsius. Th e annual precipitation is at least 200 cm and it can go up to 350 cm. These forests have 4 seasons with a distinct winter. The precipitation can fall as snow or rain; snow becoming more likely at higher elevations.
